Born in Derbyshire in 1977, Amanda showed a distinct flair for the arts from a young age whilst still at school. After studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design, she progressed to complete a BA (Honours) degree in Fashion Design at Nottingham Trent University.
Following this Amanda travelled around the world for a year and worked in several fashion industries including Ralph Lauren in New York and Marie Claire magazine, Australia. Since then Amanda has had a fantastic career designing bespoke bridal gowns for an independent Couture House expanding over the last ten years.
Travel and a passion for wildlife has always been a big part of Amanda’s life and after an inspiring journey throughout Africa, she returned to complete a series of oil paintings capturing the essence of Africa. Amanda's first solo show was a huge hit and some pieces from this collection are still available!
Whilst working at a lion rehabilitation project in Zimbabwe 2010, Amanda discovered the natural beauty within discarded animal carcasses, especially the skulls which she now works upon using mono colours and by delicately arranging Swarovski crystals; her distinct almost ‘baroque’ and sensual style has won her collectors from politicians to military academies nationwide.
The latest collection titled ‘Lovers’ is a unique interpretation of simple human form conveyed using pure white Enamel painted plaster sculptures, against contrasting black gloss backgrounds. Each one capturing the intimacy of male and female silhouettes, entwined in romantic embraces. This collection has already created keen interest and is sure to be very successful!
All pieces are original and limited editions.
