I am a wide and varied artist and I love to experiment with different media. Much of my work is very intricate, as detail delights me, as do organic, flowing lines and forms. I find inspiration in nature, architecture, old places and words. My observations may often then flow from detailed observational work into abstract works that reflect my inner moods, fascinations and images.
By day, I teach science to pupils with special educational needs. Art is my passion outside of my vocation. I am mostly self-taught, though it was an opportunity to take art lessons after school as a way of de-stressing that led me to discover that I had un-tapped talent in art. This then led me to taking my AS and A levels in art as a focus to explore and develop some of these talents. I am continually exploring and trying new methods and techniques in my art as I try to find what inspires me most and to become comfortable with how I express myself.
I enjoy creating intricate ink drawings that involve pattern within pattern, form within form. This is echoed in my textile work and the textile jewellery I sometimes create using my own hand-made felts, wires, beads and other materials.
