There are many artists whom I admire but way in front of all of them are Velazquez and Turner. Unlike the latter, I paint only in oils. I provide only originals, no copies. My approach is traditional and representational, making use of various techniques, including impasto and glazing. My paintings generally fall into one or other categories of landscapes, seascapes, snowscapes, waterscapes and still life and all are provided with frames and fastenings and so are ready to hang. I hope you may like some of them!

All my paintings are in oil. I am a self-taught artist. Although in my teens I took some classes in drawing and did some painting at this time over a number of years, I did not paint with any seriousness until the 1970's, at which time I sold my first painting.

However, having taught my self to pass six GCE O-levels in five months, and then went on to obtain two Grade B A-levels, obtained an upper-second in Economics, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and, later, an M Phil by research while continuing life as a lecturer at Leeds Metropolitain Univerisity. Without going into all the details surrounding that, in 1982 I experienced a very profound religious conversion (some would call it being "born again") and subsequently gave up my job at the age of fifty to work (unpaid and relying on God to provide for a significant deficiency in monthly income [which he has continued to do ever since]) with my wife in the UK and USA as Christian evangelists. I also tutored myself for the Cambridge University Certificate in Religious Studies to provide something of a Biblical and theological basis.

So I was kept too busy to spend much time painting until after my retirement, and then began painting in earnest in 2005. From then on I read fairly extensively on many aspects of drawing and painting and working through various exercises and painting quite intensively.
