My images have evolved following lengthy research into the relationship between women, rural space, and landscape art. I am particularly interested in blending the boundaries between photography and fine art paintings and strive to produce pictures that look as far removed as possible from traditional landscape imagery.
Study has included looking at the early pictorialists who endeavoured to reproduce paintings from the romantic period, as well as looking at the work of impressionists, landscape artists and the picturesque.
Most images produced use shallow depth of field techniques to differentiate with the crystal sharp images often associated with photography.
Artistic influences have included Anne Brigman, Fay Godwin - Glassworks and Secret Lives series Terri Weifenbach (photography) Turner (art) Andy Goldsworthy – Moonlit Path project (land art). However, my main influence has been my father, Peter, whose combined loves of countryside, photography and impressionist artwork inspired me from an early age.
My work is primarily about escaping boundaries – psychological and physical.
