Celia Clark (nee MacInnes) is a digital artist working and living in the beautiful Orkney Islands. She studied Sculpture & Drawing at Edinburgh College of Art and graduated in 2000. Although Sculpture was her main focus of work she also spent time during her studies developing photography and printmaking skills.
Celia returned home to Orkney in 2008 and began to experiment with new ways of working. Her current creative process stems from these earlier interests in photography and her love of the finished graphic quality of screen printing.
Her images begin as a photograph which she then digitally manipulates. The images are reworked until the colour, tone, texture, shading and layout compliment and balance one and other. The end result is intended to be a more creative, striking and often a more abstract version of her original photograph.
She had her first solo exhibition in February 2011 and is gaining respect as an artist for her more unusual approach in an area of Scotland renowned for more traditional creative ways of working.
