Artist Clare Sherwen

I graduated from Wolverhampton University with a degree in Fine Art (Printmaking) specialising in intaglio techniques such as etching. I'm still based in the West Midlands area producing fine art prints and watercolours with a sense of depth, shadow and atmosphere. I base my work on my visits to many different ruins, castles, and abbeys around the local area and further afield. I like the process of decay, a well preserved fragment of an earlier age. I have recently gone back to my first love of printmaking and having purchased a printing press I am now producing atmospheric collagraph and lino prints. Recently I have been experimenting with printing onto fabric and creating various items from these. Collagraph Print: Print created from a card plate made by adding glue, paint, enamel etc. This holds the ink in varying degrees and is then printed through the intaglio process.
