Artist Dan Hewitt

My work is about experience of the world expressed through mark making, color and shape. It's a drawing based approach as opposed to a conceptual one. I work in a variety of media including oil, acrylic and print. I am influenced by the natural environment, weather, land and sea and a physical interaction with these things. Over the years I have sold work to individuals, collectors and private companies and institutions. I have been shortlisted for the Nat West painting prize, and achieved a 1st class (hons) BA and an MA. I see painting as a direct extension of life; a celebration of the real world around us as-well as an investigation of ideas and feelings.
