 Daryl has recently graduated from Lincoln University with a BA Hons in Illustration. The course really helped him appreciate and experiment with the use of line, colour and texture giving him a wider perspective of art as a whole.
He has always been a life-like painter producing figurative pieces and detailed landscapes but his education has enabled him to come out of his comfort zone and create more of an abstract way of working.
He is currently pursuing a career in Illustration, but while commissions are few and far between at these early stages he is creating a unique range of abstract landscapes and cityscapes. We all now live in a very fast paced world and Daryl's work emphasizes this subject by using quick, selective brush strokes. He uses a wide range of colours and tones which piece together quite cleverly by applying many layers and blurring contrasting tones. He allows some of the layers beneath to show through giving depth and transparency leading the viewer to the main focal areas.
