David Bunn 's work is made from a mixture of both hand dyed and machine dyed fabrics. The contrast between the two processes replicates mans use of nature as an aesthetic dictionary. Each individual butterfly is hand bonded ensuring that no two are the same.
Artist's statement:
"My work operates around the repeated motif of a butterfly silhouette. I have chosen to use butterflies for not only their visual qualities but for a deeper semiotic on the precision of metamorphosis. Using nature as a guideline, I believe its possible for regeneration and renewal upon any form, manufactured or natural. As a butterfly develops from its caterpillar beginning through chrysalis and to its final and most canonised state we can learn to strive for perfection and retain the delicacy between splendour and function.

I studied fine art at Chester University, and have since provided artwork for large music companies as well as popular cultures a-list. I make a living from portrait work, however working to my own agenda gives me the creativity to produce work that is true to my heart."
