David Allott, Abstract Artist, Oil on Canvas.
I have been painting for over 20 years and like many 20th century painters I am self taught. I first studied art at school and then college in my hometown, Sheffield, South Yorkshire.
My career started by reproducing album covers and posters onto the walls of people's homes using a variety of mediums. In 1986 I left England to work in Southern Spain but continued to practise art for myself with the odd job arriving by word of mouth.
During the next 14 years I engaged different styles and techniques until 2000 when I seriously started concentrating on painting my own abstract pieces in oil.
Since Spain, my work has taken me to the four corners of the world and the experience and influences gained during this time are reproduced in my work. I now live back in the north although I still travel and have many clients who live in the UK, Spain or Northern Europe.
I love abstract art and the freedom that it allows me. My work should be free for others to view, interpret and make up their own mind without a prompt or a preview.
I paint from the heart and each piece I create is an original. I believe a persons reaction and the emotion that is evoked with the individual defines my work.
My work is predominantly painted in oil on deep edge canvases. My use of colour and texture makes for original art that leaves nobody unmoved.
