Born in Nottingham, Dawn has always been interested in painting, but it wasn’t until she was in her 30’s whilst living and working in Retford that she would paint and exhibit for the first time in The Elms.
From here she moved to Nottinghamshire and whilst running the Square and Compass in Normanton on Trent, she managed to develop her raw talent and later obtain recognition from the Nottingham Society of Artists.
Through this opportunity she exhibited in and around Nottingham, in particular the Nottingham Playhouse and was able to reach a wider audience and build a steady clientele.
However it was Dawns imaginative pastel work that earned her a place with the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
Dawn now works full time as an artist and experiments with her artistic ability with an eclectic mix of subjects; she paints in various mediums, which include pastels, watercolour acrylic, pen and Ink. Her influences are mainly the Impressionists, Degas, Monet, Manet, and Van Gogh.
Dawn’s artwork is published by various greeting card companies, illustrated books etc. She also undertakes commissions for hospitals, hotels and private customers worldwide.
Her Exhibitions include The Nottingham Playhouse, Patchings Art Centre, Thoresby Gallery, Stamford Gallery and the Great Sheffield Art Show to name a few.
You can describe Dawn’s work as “an explosion of colour and movement, making the canvas alive with painterly activity”
