I am a self-taught established artist selling through reputable galleries since starting out in 1999. Educated as an Architect, I lived and worked in Moscow, Russia, until 1996 when came to Glasgow, UK for permanent residence. Since 1998 I have been supporting many charities such as Macmillans cancer relief, Save the Children, Marie Curie, Children's First, Order of St.John etc. There had been a number of articles concerning my work in national and local press (The Herald, Evening Times, Home and Interiors, Uptown, HomeStyle, Living, Grand Designs, No 1, etc) and on channel 4' "Grand Design". I try to reflect quirky side of everyday events. My characters are not comical but recognisable and it always make people smile. Some of my works might imply something very absurd and not entirely cheerful in their very idea, but I try to present the subject so it is ridiculous or slightly exaggerated, or both. Russians are guided by their emotions, not by common sense, and this has an effect on all my work (whether I am paying myself a compliment here, I am not sure..).
