Elspeth J Collier studied at Portsmouth College of Art and Design and has also attended several courses at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Dundee Contemporary Arts Print Unit. She has a BA Honours degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Humanities with Art History.
In 2001, she was a contestant on Channel 4’s ‘Watercolour Challenge’.
Elspeth runs mixed media art workshops and is also a lead artist with the Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust ST/ART project. In 2006 she won a bursary from the Society for All Artists for “inspiring and encouraging people to paint”.
Elspeth combines a bold and lively approach in her artwork, utilizing a wide range of media in order to capture the essence of her subject matter. Her inspiration comes from a variety of sources, but her particular interest is in colour and texture, which is evident in her vibrant paintings.
As well as participating in many group exhibitions, Elspeth has held very successful solo and two-person in various local venues, including the University of Dundee Botanic Garden. Her work is in private collections throughout the UK, as well as the USA and Cyprus.
