I have studied art intensively throughout my education, culminating in a degree in Illustration from the University of Lincoln in June 2007. I have also taken part in numerous exhibitions in Lincoln and London, where I have sold work and recieved a lot of interest. I regularly take commissions and I produce archaeological illustrations for a Lincolnshire company as and when. I was born in Yorkshire and at the moment I live in Lincoln, where I also work as a technician at a secondary school.
My work could be categorised into two main areas, realism and abstract. I like to create pieces which are beautiful, detailed and intense, and in my realistic pieces I always work from the human figure. My prefered medium is pencil, although ultimately I use whatever will achieve the finish I am aiming for. In my abstract work I am interested in experimenting with optical illusions, to produce bold, arresting pieces in acrylic, on canvas or board. At the moment I am developing a new body of work in mixed media, using pattern and colour more than in my previous work, whilst still trying to include the photographic quality of my drawing. I have done a lot of travelling in south east Asia over the past few years, and this is also influencing my ideas. I am hoping to add some of these new pieces to my gallery in the near future.
