Frank Moro studied at Washington State University of Arts and Sciences in Seattle where he graduated with a master of fine arts (MFA) degree.
Frank’s work has often had a degree of controversy attached to it and there have been numerous articles exploring the possible interpretation of his pieces. The rebellious nature which he developed in his work is mainly stemmed from the need to distance him from the constraints of religion and the ultra conservative upbringing he had experienced. His paintings are often erotically charged and explore the sometimes dark side of human relationships.
The settings of some of his work could often indicate a feeling of claustrophobia which include bar scenes, bedrooms and…dark corners. They offer a visual means of escapism and fantasy, each tells a tale of yearning, intrigue and desire. The elegant and suave characters in his paintings usually have a bold black outlines which defines their equally audacious personalities and separates them from reality. The viewers are able to step into the painting safe in the knowledge that they can exit the fantasy at will.
Frank Moro’s works have been exhibited in many Galleries in the USA, Ireland and the UK. He has had many successful solo exhibitions. His distinctive style attracts private commissions and celebrity clientele which has made his work very collectable and presented him with several high accolades and numerous prizes. His studio in New York City is where he currently continues with his impressive work.
The limited edition prints of some of his work are also available and are in very high demand.
