Gabrielle Simone is an up and coming new North Yorkshire artist who has sold her work throughout the World and works to commission on a regular basis. She creates powerful and atmospheric contemporary paintings that illicit an emotional response, arousing the imagination, “..hopefully the emotional impact is one of reflection and thoughtfulness, perhaps of déjà vu, a familiar place or emotion..”, setting the mood and appealing to the viewer’s senses.
Raised in the North Yorkshire Moors, England, Gabrielle grew up adoring and admiring the wide open spaces, Aurora and tempestuous skies. Overpowered with their infinite beauty throughout all seasons. Capturing and creating such atmospheric phenomenon in different art mediums has continued from a very young age. Gabrielle went on to study art at York College of Art & Technology and Cleveland College of Art & Design. After a number of years travelling the world as a photographer she returned to the UK to study Multimedia Design for four years at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, where she received a BSc Honours Degree.
In 2005 she went full time and since then has produced work in both digital and traditional media.“My method of working is very fast and free, a fluid technique which is flexible and liberating, I experience the process of creation almost as a subconscious undertaking, the open space, inspires me to capture an expression of a moment in time, sublime and undemanding...”, preferring to work on large canvas using acrylic & mixed media, Gabrielle also uses an airbrush and digital tools giving her the freedom to work boldly and spontaneously.
Gabrielle's current body of work 'Calm and Storm' offers an insight into the artists unique interpretation of the landscape, and a sense of her own personal connection with the subject. Many of these latest works are painted in acrylic on acid free, gesso primed canvas. The paintings come signed on the side and signed and dated on the back, with a Certificate of Authenticity. They are on a frame with painted gallery edges.
