My work centres on responses to news articles or images which stem from my own personal interests and social awareness of the world. I produce pieces with the aim of highlighting an issue whilst stimulating thought and ultimately convey a predetermined message. Ideas intuitively conjured to raise awareness without I hope causing offence. My aspiration is to devise pieces which will play a vital role which affects issues e.g. gun crime resulting in change.
I go through a process of elimination on a daily basis when selecting stories as a basis for my art. Most importantly they have to interest me, and secondly my question or opinions of the article have to be strong enough to make art about it. Unfortunately at present I have only included headline stories as opposed to more local ones due to their national or even worldwide coverage. I undertake a lot of research backing up each piece I create with facts and quotes. So in a sense each piece of artwork is a collaboration of my own opinions along with the public; I am a public messenger of this information, compiling it visually.
