I have always drawn and painted. I started 'earning my keep' at 15 by doing portraits and sculptures, but my formal education began in 1976 when I did 2 years art and design 'foundation' before going on to complete an honours degree at Leeds Polytechnic in 1981, specialising in illustration.
I worked in London for a couple of years in magazine fiction work before becoming the graphic designer at Arkwrights Museum in Cromford, where my displays can still be seen.
I then got "head hunted' into a large advertising agency in Leeds, and became an 'in house' illustrator for 7 years, which forced me into a variety of different styles.
In 1991 I left and became a children's book illustratior. I was with Artist Partners for a while, and I have illustrated 30 or so published books since.
I now have 30 years worth of professional work in my portfolios.
All the illustrations I have on sale have been published in children's books by major publishers, Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, Heinemann etc.
I have illustrated The Secret Garden and virtually all the classic fairy stories.
I now live and work happily in South Cambridgeshire with my author/illustrator partner in our picture postcard house!
