Hazel Grew up in the beautiful Scottish Borders. Living in such a rural location cemented her love of animals and developed her appreciation for the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Having always loved art from an early age and taking a keen interest at school she then went on to attend Cumbria college of art and Design in Carlisle. A Diploma in art and Design, starting with graphic design and then later into 3D design gave her a good background in all aspects of drawing, painting, crafts and design work.
Hazel Has always loved animals and has painted and drawn them in her spare time from an early age. Her work captures the character of her subjects in sensitive and accurate portraits. She started working in pastel after discovering how perfect they were for creating the soft effects needed to portray fur and hair of animals.
Having opened her own gallery and art shop in 2007 Hazel is now able to commit to her artwork full time and takes commissions mainly for portraits of pets.
Her love of the countryside in which she grew up in also inspires her to experiment with different mediums to capture the beauty of the surrounding area. Working in watercolour, pastel, oil and a limited amount of acrylic work.
