 On leaving school, I went into full time work, eventually running a successful business for 16 years.
When I was in my late 30’s, I went along to an oil painting class with a friend. There I developed some knowledge and understanding of oil painting, and I felt this is me,
as painting came more natural to me than anything else I have done before.
After this course, I then completed a City & Guilds in life drawing though evening classes.
However I could not progress into further education as I have 2 children both attending their own universities.
So I decided to finish my business and took a part time job, in order to progress and spend as much time on my art work as possible.
I went into hibernation. Giving up any social life and my business. Which was a small price to pay, as the world looks more fascinating, discovering shadows, colours and shapes in abundance then I had ever noticed before.
I will always be learning, but after 6 years, I have come out of hibernation, and feel I would now like to share my journey in Art.
My style of work is an illustration with a preference of working with oils.
