I work extensively in mixed media, incorporating real flora, other natural objects, spray paints and oils into compositions. Some of these only exist to be photographed whilst others are real physical pieces hanging on walls. I feel that there is a sense of stillness in my work that perhaps reflects the 9 years I spent living in Japan where the beauty of space and stillness is itself a sought after aesthetic. Though still, many of the pieces are heavily saturated - the colours vivid and striking. I lived for some time in the sub-tropics where the colours of nature seem so much more real than those in our shores - perhaps, again this influence can be seen in my work. Perhaps not! I also produce mixed media images of 'fantasy flowers' that play slightly with the idea of what a flower is. Most of my work is sold in the medium of high quality giclee prints on fine art paper, though I have received a number of commissions. Commissions are available upon request.
