Hugh Kerr is an emerging artist who has been painting for around 5 years. Having left formal art education at secondary school he has led a varied career as a geologist and environmental scientist.
He has travelled extensively both during his childhood, with parents working overseas, and during his adult life and has worked amongst others on survey ships in the North Sea and the Philippines, in the Middle East, and on gold mines in Ethiopia and Ghana. His wide ranging experience and his love of the natural world, geology and science provide influences for his unusual work.
Inspiration comes from a variety of sources but predominantly from the natural world, or on observations on his own working life as an environmental consultant based in London.
Hugh is new to the art world but has already exhibited in professional galleries, in London and online. In 2004 he also won first prize in the ‘Beyond Boundaries’ competition.
