Griff only turned full time wildlife artist in 2006 after painting and exhibiting part time for over 30 years. Even with encouragement from Sir Peter Scott in the early 70’s he decided on a career in the leisure trade which took him to many place in the UK and the opportunity to travel extensively around the world. Born in Yorkshire he now lives with his family on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall, UK.
During his first 2 years Griff has been featured in several wildlife and art magazines, selected for the Artists for conservation’s 1st exhibition in the USA, won the Ken Stroud award and highly commended at the Wildlife art society’s annual exhibitions 2007 & 2008 at Nature in art, Gloucestershire and finalist in the wildlife category of the leading US magazine ‘the Artist’ in 2008. Experimentation and diverse styles all go towards making his paintings in demand.
Recently he worked with Professor David Bellamy illustrating several projects for his conservation awareness awards program which included birds to butterflies, botanical to bumblebees. He uses many different mediums depending on the subject matter, but mainly acrylics for his studio works and watercolour and ink for sketching. Griff is developing his dramatic wildlife oil paintings and was selected for exhibiting at the Mall galleries on London. 2009 sees his main exhibition at the Wildfowl and wetlands trust head quarters at Slimbridge.
