I trained as a graphic designer and specialised in technical illustration and idea generation. I enjoyed a stimulating career as a designer until I settled down to raise my family. I have four children, a tolerant husband and loopy Labrador dog! I retrained to work with children and discovered my passion for releasing the creativity within us all...that sounds a bit dramatic but I feel strongly that it is within us all to be able to produce and get pleasure from art and so began my next journey into training to teach and to study art as a therapy.
As an artist - I create a wide variety of textural relief art with emphasis on stimulating colours with energy and vibrancy to more peaceful pieces for those quieter moments. I usually work in acrylics on deep edge canvas and sometimes directly onto fabrics.... I am passionate about creating multi-sensory interactive artworks with particular interest in partially sighted or blind viewers. I love to incorporate relief and texture and have recently been exploring the use of braille in my artworks too. I have been asked where my style comes from - I have no answer to this, I try not to study or view other artists work with a view to it affecting my own ....! I cannot explain, all my work comes from my minds eye, I use no photography or images in my work except to study flowers for accuracy.
I have been a selling artist since my school days, more recently full time since 2000 and exhibit regularly locally, most recently in Hospitals including Oxford, Milton Keyenes and Bedford too. Artgallery rating
