 Born in Ayrshire Scotland. Moved to the south of England during childhood.
Spent 20 years in the very beautiful county of Northumberland in the foothills of the Cheviots in England's Border County.
Now living in the Scottish borders near Kelso.
My talents for both Repousse; and digital painting are natural / self taught in the main with help from my father who also painted, and I have developed them as I have progressed.
Repousse’
It was in 1980 at the age of 34 that I found the natural talent to be able to emboss a picture in copper sheet foil it somehow seemed destined to come to the surface. No formal art training has ever been given so all the techniques had to be improvised.
I work mainly in Copper, but a few pieces have been done in Pewter. Being a much softer medium it does take a lot more attention to look after it to protect from damage.
Many different subjects have been given the Sculpting Repousse Technique.
All my works are original and unique, there are no trial pieces, and no moulds of any kind are used. A variety of work tools are used and some are hand made to suit certain requirements.
