Jane is originally from Aberdeen, and after spending many years in London and in Brighton, working, studying and pursuing her career in music, she moved to Somerset in 2003.
After relocating to the West Country, Jane was inspired to paint again and set up her new studio in Weston-super-Mare in 2006. She was invited to exhibit her paintings locally at first and has since been invited to show work in a number of cities in the UK and abroad.
Subjects are varied, with work inspired by architecture taking centre stage, and with some recent work also focussed on paintings inspired by cows and sheep.
She likes to create work with movement and expressive bold colours and form. Strongly influenced by the Post-Impressionists and the Scottish colourists, Jane works in oils and the paintings are created with a combination of large and small brushes, palette knives and trowels, building up many layers and fine detail until the final work is complete. Jane is proud of her highly professional finish and presentation.
