Jean Noble RI Trained at Loughborough college of Art and Kingston University with a design degree. More recently Jean has completed mixed media courses at Central St Martins.
Art has always been important in my life and I have continued to paint throughout. The boundary between representation and abstraction is of particular interest to me. My image begins with something seen, a building, landscape or object taken out of context or a particular light. The finished pieces evolve out of a process of continual change and an innate knowledge of colour and composition. Jean's interest in the two dimensional plane and the texture of the picture surface is evident. Jean believes art is an extraordinary glance at the ordinary. That we should try to readjust our perceptions and hopes to give a strong image to which people can respond by emphasising, eliminating and clarifying to allow others a fresh viewpoint. Her paintings are about reality without resorting to imitation.
Jean tries to create personally meaningful work, working in oils, pastel and water based media (acrylic) in her studio from previously made sketches, except when commissions take her elsewhere. Her work is in private collections here and abroad.
