Artist Jeremy Mayes

I trained as a graphic designer back in 1991 but over time realised that fine art was my preferred creative route. After working both in the computer games industry (gameboy) and telephone sales (horrendous!) I decided to become self employed fully in 2003. I also produce stock illustrations, photography and music . Originally starting out as a more traditional painter of wildlife and portraiture my work has over the years developed into an expressionistic and alternative view of landscapes, using classic landscape motifs (ie. houses, trees, hills) to re-evaluate how we perceive reality and the relationship between synthetic and natural objects. It has a deliberate naive quality and is quite popular in Portugal where the warm colours seem to go down well. I also produce similarly themed figurative work. Eleven of my paintings are now in the Allarts Gallery in Lisbon and I hope to exhibit in Nottingham. I hope you enjoy viewing my paintings here on artgallery.
