JOE BOYLE is a native of Fleetwood, Lancashire, and worked for his degree in art at Lancaster University, majoring in ceramics, before teaching the subject in comprehensive schools, becoming Head of Art at three different establishments.
An abrupt change of direction saw him as a performance artiste, and eventually as scriptwriter for a number of major television programmes in the UK and abroad before retirement herded him back to his easel.
His watercolours aspire to luminosity, brightness, and imagination, expressed mainly through wet-on-wet techniques.
He also sculpts with ‘as found’ materials, mostly metal, used, literally, as-found, and combined, non-corrupted, with other
‘finds’, to produce objects of strength, beauty, and intrigue.
