Artist John Bate

I Studied at Birmingham College of art and design. I have practised interior design for over 35 years, the latter 14 years as a partner within the company. Held fellowships of British Institute of Interior design and Chartered Society of Designers, In 2003 I became a full time artist. My Style spans from domestic traditional, part abstract through to full abstract. This embodies all aspects of land, mountain, sea, ice and desert scapes. Presenting an acute awarness of colour, light and darkness to evoke effects from simple minimalism, through to full blown drama. My desire is that the art I produce should be interseting and different. Many of my works display metallic cast aluminium, split timber or heavy layering of paint to enhance a 3D effect of highlight and shadow within the art compostition. I also use metallic foils and geometric construction graphics for semi and full abstracts. Traditional work, I would use softer paint symbolising mist, light, dark, colour and highlights to project the work into life. I have work in galleries throughout the UK and Ireland, plus a quantity of works have been published by art companies.
