Artist John Curtis

I am an artist born in Bristol, I studied, Art & Design and Illustration at Brunel College of Art in Bristol, and also studied creative marketing and advertising at Falmouth College in Cornwall. In recent years, after a short break in my artwork, I have re-discovered my passion for painting and have began to produce artwork in my spare time. My work is abstract and modern and represents moods, feelings and experiences, my style is crisp and detailed, and demands a closer look. I work using Acrylic, Oils, enamel and spray paint as well as introducing letterset and metallic into my artwork, experimenting with colours and textures on canvas to produce unique abstract pieces. I also work on large scale highly detailed illustrations in ink or pencil, and also incorporate these drawings into my paintings. Major influences of mine include the work of Jackson Pollock, M C Escher, and street and grafitti art which I have an interest in. I have sold many pieces since 2003 and I have also produced two books featuring my artwork "Twenty by twenty" and "Creations" and continue to draw and paint on a regular basis I have exhibited at galleries in and around Bristol and have taken part in the popular Art Trail weekends in and around Bristol where I have sold many works. I am continuing to produce artwork regularly,drawing almost every day and painting at every opportunity, I hope to become a full time artist in the near future. I can produce similar pieces of my sold work and accept commissions for work, using my own recognisable style.
