Artist John Mckie

I have no formal training as an artist but started painting around 1990 with a strong desire to make pictures. I was fairly soon selling in a gallery in Scotland with success, to my amazement everything I submitted, over a few years, sold. I was also selling on a word of mouth basis. I had a long period of illness in which I was not very productive but am now more active than I have ever been artistically.
I make pictures with paint on canvas, salvaged wood and paper and often other bits and pieces that I find lying around. I like straight collage too, and mixed media, and have made some large ones on wood board with mixed themes. I like to end up with something with some depth and integrity. I really like the concept of ending up with a unique object/image. I hope you like what I do.
