Artist John Van Der Kiste

I have been fascinated by painting ever since studying History of Art at A-level, and from learning about it, found it was but a short step to producing my own, with some guidance from our extremely talented Head of Art. After going through phases of being inspired by the surrealists and the naifs, I decided to concentrate mainly on landscapes, with occasional diversions into still life. Having spent most of my life in Devon and inherited my mother’s love of Dartmoor, I find the latter a constant inspiration in my work and enjoy painting local scenes, though I plan to diversify into other fields when time allows. I have exhibited regularly in galleries in the area and am also a freelance writer, enthusiastic amateur musician, singer, songwriter and occasional DJ.
