| Jools Lawley is a Contemporary Artist living and working in Worcester. Having initially trained as a Primary School Teacher she left the profession 3 years ago to pursue painting fulltime. As well as having been successful in several Open Exhibitions across the Midlands, she had her first solo exhibition at Pershore Number 8 Gallery in 2009.
Her creative practice is an act of exploration and discovery that inspires and encourages relationships on the surface through expressive painting and drawing. Jools’ work separates into 2 distinct areas. Firstly stylized figurative compositions in a variety of ink and pastel and also most recently, free standing small figurative sculptures in wire. Secondly a series of abstract paintings that focus on the physical action of painting and creating a translucent surface quality rather than portraying specific subject matter. |
