I was born in Seville, Spain, in 1977. After university, I travelled around Europe, studying in a number of studios and design houses, honing my craft and developing my own art.
Over the last 10 years, I have been working exclusively on private commissions for my regular client list. I feel it's now time to bring my work to a wider audience.
My work has been selling globally and I consider myself a citizen of the world and my art reflects this. I recently moved to the UK and am now working out of Savage Studios in Chatteris. I work mainly in heavily textured acrylics on canvas but I am also moving towards incorporating different media. I draw my inspiration from the natural world and my current work is based on the Elements; earth, fire, water and air. I feel a resonance with the world around me; I absorb and process the colours, vibrations, sounds and textures I see and feel, translating them onto canvas in a spontaneous, instinctive way. I work quickly and intuitively, immersing myself intensely in each piece.
The Elements
I have been working over the last few years on artwork that strikes a resonance with me. The first of which I would like to introduce to you is a series I call The Elements; earth, fire, air, water. The series is my deeply held thoughts on these elements and the world environment. There is a merging of styles in these paintings, a technique of mixing elements in with the fabric of the paint. I am a magpie, a compulsive collector by nature, and I pick up samples from wherever I go. I have been doing this for the past 20 years and have all kinds of objects and substances, mostly natural elements, and in some cases, synthetic mediums to add body and texture. Where possible I try to incorporate some of these parts of my life into my art. This series is also inspired by the kinetic energy of painters like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. These pictures were painted in pairs, although all eight were painted in the studio at the same time over the course of three months, using sympathetic colours and materials.
Clients have often commented upon the fact that my work does not carry a signature on the front. While I strongly believe that an artist should have their work attributed to them, it is also my belief that a signature can detract from the art work itself therefore it is my practice to sign the reverse of the canvas.
