 I was trained in graphic design and this was my job for many years. All the while, however, I was refining my painting techniques and when the time came to finally take up fine art as a full time career, I was ready and met with immediate success.
I paint in oils and concentrate on figures, landscape, portraits and wildlife studies. I show my work across Cornwall but especially in St Ives, the centre of West Country art, where I have my work on permanent display in a gallery on the Wharf.
I use local scenery in my work very often, including views and details of St Ives itself.
I like to work briskly with thickly applied impasto oils. I am extremely interested in light and atmosphere and I often strive to give the sense of a developing scene or part of a story to my paintings.
