Artist Julie Louise Harwood

I am a self-taught artist who didnt pursue a career in the creative world but continued to paint as a hobby. Over the years I have painted many portraits of friends/colleagues animals and people and mostly have painted in watercolours. Mainly becuase of the convenience and lack of storage in my house. I have within the last 5 years developed an interest in painting in Acrylics and oils. After working in watercolours and pencils for so long and seeing an instant result with the watercolours I now enjoy the benefits painting in acrylics. When painting with acrylics you have the best of both worlds i.e., you have the speed in which you paint with the acrylics being quick drying but the benefits of the oils building up the paint on the canvas. Ultimately using oils brings a different dimension and depth to the painting and I love the fact of creating something which will stand the test of time. I have exhibited my work in local Arts trails in Bristol and North Somerset and had sold several works and put my creative skills forward for many charity evenets connected to my childrens schools and shows. I love painting dancers (particularly ballet) becuase I dance and so does my daughter - so you will see a lot of dancers within my catalogue of works as I feel most inspired by dance. I hope you enjoy my works as much as I did painting them.
