Artist: Karl Hamilton
Karl was born in Northern Ireland in 1979. The youngest of five children and the only Boy. Karl never claimed to be the Academic in the family, feeling more content with a sketch pad than a text book. Although he excelled in art from an early age, Karl never dreamed his passion could one day be his career and stumbled onto the first rung of his career ladder quite by chance. While working as a graphic designer, Karl was twenty two years old when he entered a local painting competition; the topic was “Childhood memory”. This was easy for Karl as he always loved to paint an exaggerated interpretation of his sisters style, the hair, the makeup, vibrant and precise and he often added a personal touch (like the time his Sister Nicole got a small Tattoo which put her into big trouble with their Dad!) Karl always displays a modern, edgy style in his paintings and finds some amusement in documenting life happenings this way whenever possible. Karl won the first prize in that competition, and the dream started to become closer to reality. For the next couple of years, He continued to paint whilst working as a graphic designer, but after hosting a few solo exhibitions which received high acclaim, he knew it was time to commit fully to his Talent. Karl’s contemporary, colourful and dynamic style has since gained him high recognition coupled with a number of awards both locally and internationally. His work is in great demand and also very collectable. Karl is now a full time artist living with his wife and two young daughters.
