Artist Katarzyna Zak

In 2010 I graduated from Kingston University Illustration and Animation Degree. Originally from Poland but since 2004 I have been living in North London and I love it. I started my art education in 1998 when I successfully applied to the Art College in Poland. This was the most creative time for me. I was drawing, painting and sculpting most of the time .
Sentence voice by one of the most talented Polish artists, Franciszek Starowieyski, describes attitude towards my development.

His original and inspiring theater and movie posters as well as large-scale charcoal drawings has been fascinating for me since the very early stage of my art education. It was a starting point for me, something that pushed me to the world of drawing and painting.
Observational drawing was and still is very important for me. It was always part of the process it helps me to understand the objects I am working on.
Apart from observational drawing I concentrate on color, which plays main role in my paintings. The other artists who inspires me the most are Lucian Freud, Marlene Dumas but also abstract artist Julia Brooker.The most fascinating object for me as well as it was for most of the artist I mentioned is human figure it inspires me the most.I am a freelance painter and illustrator and have sold variety of my work both in Poland and in England.
