Kate Stenhouse is an established and acclaimed artist working from her studio in rural Northumberland.
Kate regards painting as a ‘’theatre of possibilities….’’
Her style is eclectic and her interest lies with colour and texture rather than line or form making each work totally unique as soon as her brush hits the canvas.
With this in mind, Kate does not produce prints as she likes to know that each image is a true original.
Recent work emerges as strong, bold Acrylic canvases and contemporary Watercolours showing energy, colour and vitality.
Kate finds inspiration all around her - from quiet rural scenes to vibrant cityscapes, from weather, to still life.
Her energy and love of painting produce exciting images each time she paints, her work never stands still as she continues to explore the medium and her surroundings.
This approach has helped to forge her strong reputation - we can always look forward to something new.
Originally trained as an English teacher, Kate left teaching after her second son was born and became a Porcelain Restorer, restoring porcelain for the Royal Family, Millers and Sotheby’s.
It was during this time that her love of painting was rekindled and in 1988 Kate became a full time painter, exhibiting in London and the South East.
In 1994 Kate and her family re-located to Northumberland .
Kate has exhibited widely in Galleries across the North East, including the Biscuit Factory, and her work can be found in many Private collections both at home and abroad.
Renowned for her teaching Kate runs classes and workshops across the area and has been teaching in Europe for the past 6 years.
