Lesley Birch's recent Scottish paintings are distinctive for their colour and atmosphere. Using acrylic "in the manner of oils", she achieves both texture and softness, capturing the wild and free atmosphere of her homeland. Her original paintings are for sale in Scotland Art Galleries in Glasgow and Edinburgh, The Pyramid Gallery, in York and Project Art in London. Lesley gained an M.A. in English Literature in the 1980s, going on to tour as keyboards player for Hue and Cry. Her love of art persisted and it was in 2000, whilst living in Cambridge, that Lesley joined the Cambridge Drawing Society and Cambridge Open Studios. Now based in York, she exhibits in Open and Selected exhibitions and has won several awards for her work.
