I like to use texture and vivid colours to create intimate portraits which capture a sense of personality and life. I aim to tell a story through each piece that might be completely different depending on the viewer. I became interested in sharing my work with others after one of my pictures was selected for an exhibition at Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk, Lancashire.
I often use strips of music and newspaper in my artwork to create an interesting quality but also to bring each of the characters to life- I like to think each has their own theme. Backgrounds made of tea and coffee give a lovely sepia effect whilst splashes of ink create movement. I like to use pencil crayons on top of watercolour paints to get all the detail- I want the viewer to believe my subjects could walk right out of the picture. Many of the pieces are based around inspirational photographs I've found in National Geographic magazines. I hope you enjoy my work.
