'The subjective nature of visual art - as with music, theatre or film - means that it can be an intensely personal experience, allowing different people to draw individual meanings, insights, moods and experiences from any one piece. All art consists of two equally important factors - the artist and the audience. At the point at which the artist deems a work complete the baton is passed to the audience, who then takes precedence in creating its meaning.
Good art should be an open door, never a closed book.'
