I studied Art Foundation at Rochdale College of Art (1967-1969) and Theatre and Television Design at London’s Central School of Art & Design (1969-1972) where I obtained my Diploma in Art and Design. After working in professional Theatre for a few years I took a Post-Graduate Teacher’s Certificate course at Manchester (1976-1977) and obtained my P.G.C.E.
I taught Art in Greater Manchester schools until 2003 until I took early retirement in order to draw and paint professionally. The main body of my work was painted in oils and of a contemporary nature. I enjoy portraiture and painting the human figure mostly. Since December of 2008 I have worked entirely in acrylic medium as opposed to oil.
My favourite artists are Picasso and David Hockney. Their attempts to capture light through colour are fabulous and fascinating.Artgallery rating
