Margaret James is a successful and sought after artist who has exhibited in Central London and in Kent and who’s works have been sold throughout the world, particularly the United States. She exhibited consistently during the 90's but was unfortunately forced to suspend her art career when she suffered sight problems eventually losing the sight in one eye - this was luckily resolved following a successful operation.
In 1992 she exhibited with the Society of All Artists, an internationally recognised body - at that time, run by renowned artist Alwyn Crawshaw and regularly holding exhibitions - she won a highly commended award. In 1994 she went on to exhibit with the Society in London’s West End, winning yet another highly commended award. She also exhibited at London’s Royal Horticultural Halls and Conference Centre in 1995 and was the subject of a press article showcasing the talent of the then new artist. She went on to win the ‘Derwent Highly Commended Award’ for her acrylic painting ‘Playtime’ - a depiction of a child at play on a climbing frame. This was also exhibited at Temple, London.
Her work has been described as both emotive whilst being representational, going on to win awards locally in Kent and also in London. She is entirely self taught and has consistently pursued artwork when and where possible She has described her past adversities as being constructive in recent works and clearly expresses herself in art.
