Having spent many years being a creative homemaker, twelve years ago I decided to go back to college and persue schooling in different areas of creativity: drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, graphic design, textile design and hand building from clay. Well creative people want to try it all, don't they?
My skills and artistic flair were recognised. I was given a wonderful opportunity to work as an Artist in Residence at a local college near my home in my beautiful rainy City of Manchester.
I have had a number of exciting commissions and have sold many of my own inspired paintings. I'm not saying that one's talent is measured by sales, but even so it can be an encouragement to one's creative spirit
I execute my paintings in a very vigorous way, expressing myself through a wide range of brush marks and colours, mixed from a limited palette. When inspired I have an abundance of energy which is obviously to the onlooker.
The styles I work in vary depending on the subject matter and the way I feel at the time. My most recent work is less tight and often conveys freedom and fluency. Many of my recent works are what is described as semi abstract, inspired by nature.
I think it is wonderful to be able to produce a photo-real image in paint or any other medium, I find it more enjoyable to be impulsive and create somthing from one's soul.
As you can see at the moment I have a love for vibrant, exaggerated colours.
