Artist Marianne Turner

Marianne Turner is presently based in Devon, having recently returned to her home county after 15 years in West Cornwall. She is a self-taught artist, working principally in acrylics and watercolours, and at the moment is producing a series of abstract and semi-abstract land/ seascapes which reflect the stunning colours and magical beauty of the Westcountry.

'Pursuing an artistic course and creating works that give expression to my feelings about the natural elements and our environment is a relatively new direction for me. There is much to explore and learn. I experiment continually and find no shortage of subjects for further study - at the moment I am trying to interpret on canvas or paper the varied moods of the Devon moors and Cornish coastline in numerous weather conditions. Skies, light, land and seawater and how we respond emotionally to them are 'my thing'. I am interested in the traditional artist's aim - capturing that elusive mix of vibrant colour & light on paper, yet with my own unique interpretation.'

Marianne has displayed her work at Truro Art Society, National Trust Trelissick Gardens, the Alverton Gallery Penzance, Isca Gallery Budleigh Salterton and has varied pieces in private collections. Her textile design work is currently part of 'Rokk Studio' being shown in New York.
