Mark Fisher was born in Canterbury in 1963. He has spent most of his life in the Kent/Sussex area with the exception of 4 years in Australia and 4 years in London.
He has always drawn and painted but has also worked in ceramic and other three-D media. He has exhibited and sold his work for the last 25 years and has recently been able to devote more time to his art. The inspiration for his own work comes from the local countryside and places he visits both at home and abroad. His most recent work is acrylic on canvas, which has taken him to a much larger format, which in turn has produced some startling and dramatic pieces. His work is often built up over layers of resin paste to added depth and texture to the painted surface. He also works in pastel, oil pastel, oil and watercolour. He has developed his own techniques in the use of watercolour pencils and ink. The pencils have a highly blendable quality, which provides a soft, smooth feel with a great depth of colour. His pictures are beautifully drawn with masses of intense detail, strong lighting and dramatic shadows. All his work has a large tonal range, which pulls the viewer into his pictures.
