I'm a freelance illustrator with over 15 years experience with a HND in illustration from West Herts College, Watford. I'm currently based in Liverpool.
I've always loved to draw as long as I can remember. My work stems from a wide range of influences. The catalyst was seeing a wall chart of the Mr Men at an early age through to a love of british comics, cartoon animation, vintage computer game artwork in magazines from the 1980s and the games themselves. As well as my ongoing obsession finding new childrens book illustrators with a particular style in bookshops and online.
I started out as an illustrator having commissions in various magazines in the mid 1990s using pen and watercolour intially and progressing to acrylics a couple of years later. In 2000 I decided to learn Photoshop to speed up the process of producing an illustration and never looked back. However I always missed the process of physically painting with acrylic. I started painting again during my spare time in 2008 working towards my first local solo exhibition in 2009 and have sold numerous paintings since then.
Colour roughs for my paintings are produced in photoshop from scanned drawings.
A final high quality printout enables me to match colours as close as possible for the final painting.
