 Martina McAteer is an Irish artist based in Co. Wexford. She has a strong Irish profile and is represented in many prestigous galleries. Her work has a very strong mystical overtones to it and has often been described as ethereal. The subject matter ranges from literary influences to religous iconography and her style is very unique. There is a lyrical quality to many of her works and she sees herself as a poet painter. She is mainly self - taught but spent some time in Edinburgh College of art studying narrative painting. She was recently selected for the Pen and Brush inc., international exhibition in New York.
